Repurposing Retail: From Pharmacy to Gallery
The Hotel Elephant team are always pleased to see our members featured in the press and were delighted to spot Supriya Lele and Donald Ryan in the weekend edition of the Financial Times HTSI magazine. Released on the 9th of September, the article explores Fashion Designer Supriya Lele’s partnership with gallerist Donald Ryan who has recently launched Qrystal Partners, a project space and gallery in the former Pharmacy located on our site in Borough, SE1.
Press Release: Creative Elephant - 16th - 24th September 2023
Hotel Elephant is pleased to present Creative Elephant, a program of events and workshops celebrating the creative and design talents of our studio members for the London Design Festival and Urban Elephant Festival. The program will include a group exhibition of artwork and objects from our members, including textiles, fashion, fine art and jewellery. The exhibition is free to attend and will run for the duration of the festival. Our events program will include participatory workshops and demonstrations from different craftspeople, alongside an evening talk about Chinese Filigree for the Southwark Design District lates program. Reuben Powell at the Mall Galleries!
Our very own Reuben Powell’s work has been selected to be among the artworks exhibited, with his work ‘Oil Tanker I, Fawley Refinery’ as part of the Mall Galleries’ Royal Society of Marine Artists Annual Exhibition. The exhibition runs from the 30th of September to the 10th of October (10:00am - 5:00pm).
Members Profile: Candy Ward
We interviewed Hotel Elephant studio member Candy Ward about her ceramics. She creates functional work centred around celebrating women’s soft bodies. Candy began working with ceramics during her BA in Ceramic Design at Central Saint Martins, since then she has developed her own unique style. She explores themes of body dysmorphia and eating disorder through clay based on her own personal experience. She hopes people can gain confidence and love for their own bodies through seeing normal bodies represented in her work, challenging mainstream representation of the female form.
Charlie Cridlan
Charlie has designed sets, costumes, props for 20 years and collaborates in the worlds of theatre, opera, dance and live events nationally and internationally.

Indianna is a Fine Artist working across disciplines of painting, sculpture, and writing.
