Charlie has designed sets, costumes, props for 20 years and collaborates in the worlds of theatre, opera, dance and live events nationally and internationally. Charlie grew up in London SE11 where she is now based, in her studio she produces scale-models, drawings and other works. Equally at home designing site-specific productions and large-scale houses nationally, Charlie has a passion for transformation of space and clothes the endless possibilities they have to tell a story. Charlie thinks in precise detail about the performance environment and its effect on audiences which has led her to create dynamic, unusual environments for companies in the Corporate & Heritage sectors where Charlie has created memorable, thought-provoking backdrops for events, workshops, dinners, photo shoots & launches.
CHRISTMAS AT THE SNOW GLOBE
Dec 2020 Charlie designed "Christmas at the (Snow) Globe"; an online film you can watch from home: "National treasure Sandi Toksvig and her merry company bring laughter, carols and the joy of Christmas from the Globe Theatre straight to your home with this very festive film premiere. A child stands in our wooden ‘O’ waiting for the show to begin but something’s not quite right. The theatre is bare. Where are the players, the audience and stewards? Fear not – the Snow Globe gang are not going to let anything stop them from giving this child, and everyone at home the gift of theatre, especially at Christmastime! Pull on a festive jumper, gather your loved ones as close as social distancing will allow, and watch the company restore the magic of Christmas. The film is filled with classic Christmas songs, get ready to sing-along and join us in turning every household into a winter wonderland."
