Second Skin Costumed Life drawing's 7th class will be an ode to the tutu, the romantic, soft, frothy and beautiful garment which holds a rich history in ballet, we will be drawing a selection of tutus old and new and exploring ways in which to capture its beauty through drawing.
As usual the class will be split in to two halves, the first half we will experiment with some short drawing exercises exploring capturing movement through the costumes and then moving onto the second half where we will settle into some longer poses.
Drawing boards, some paper and pencils will be provided however we recommend to bring some materials you enjoy working with incase we run out!
Tutu:
"Noun, A female ballet dancer's costume consisting of a bodice and an attached skirt incorporating numerous layers of soft light and diaphanous fabric, this being either short and stiff and projecting horizontally from the waist ( the classical tutu) or long, soft, and bell shaped (the romantic tutu)"
