Free to participate in, and free to attend, Photo Scratch is a night for new ideas and discussions, where in each edition six documentary photographers and artists working within the realm of documentary, show work-in-progress projects. Each participant is allocated a few meters of wall space. Spectators are then invited to give written feedback for each project which is then left for each photographer. It has the feel of a private view, but also an informal networking event. It’s specifically for professional photographers to have an opportunity to gain valuable insight into how their work is perceived, and have genuinely helpful conversations about their work whilst it is in development. It is also an opportunity for photographers to experiment with the form in a safe and supportive setting. Photo Scratch takes place at Hotel Elephant’s new Spare Street venue just a few minutes walk from Elephant and Castle underground.
