Samantha Snow | SJ Snow Jewellery
Samantha is the designer and maker behind S J Snow Jewellery. Sam creates jewellery that transcends time. Reminiscent of 1st century gold that lacked the modern tools and skills we have today, but was somewhat more beautiful with imperfections embraced. With a fashion design background, working for a luxury multi-product womenswear brand, Samantha wanted to create timeless adornments to compliment and enhance.
Starting with the natural material of beeswax, Sam uses ancient carving methods, handmade tools and the ancient method of 'lost wax casting' in order to create her unique, one-of-a-kind pieces. Sam felt that recreating these methods makes her work as authentic as possible and truly reflects her love for embracing imperfection and 1st century jewellery.
In order to feel more connected to beeswax and the process, Samantha purifies beeswax herself to get it to a state where it is suitable for carving. Sourced from local hives in hassocks, un-purified beeswax with debris and honeycomb, is melted down and poured through muslin cloth repeatedly. Revealing beeswax in its purest form, and into honeycomb sheet, which is the perfect starting point for your beeswax heirlooms.
With every purchase of S J Snow Jewellery, Samantha Snow is giving a percentage back to The British Bee Charity, a non-profit, which funds go directly to help the welfare of bees.
