Between now and when you were studying, have you more or less followed the path that you imagined for yourself, or wandered more dramatically from it?
Before training in Animation I worked as a Chef and then a cocktail bartender; I've sometimes found myself back in the kitchen since then and my personal animation work continues to be preoccupied with food (and drink). So, in a way yes and in another, not so much.
Where do you see, or hope, your work might be leading you to in the future?
I enjoy cooking and it makes a nice change of pace from sitting at a desk (working on animation). In an ideal world I'd like to be able to do both - and continue to make animated short films, alongside commercial projects.
How have you found working from Hotel Elephant’s Coworking Space?
Animation can be a solitary occupation (especially when working from home) so it's great to be in a community environment and the good coffee is a bonus!
Do you, or does your work, have a socially engaged aspect or a greater cause that you hope it is contributing to?
I recently produced a short film for UNHCR (the UN Refugee Agency) raising awareness for Syrian child refugees, featuring Ben Stiller, and I'm keen to pursue work in this important area.
Do you have any advice to someone heading into your line of work?
Health and safety: take regular screen breaks! (staring at the end of a cigarette or a cup of coffee)
