Hotel Intimacy is an exhibition that acts as a temporary shelter for what is personal and private, close and fragile.
The exhibition seeks to expand on the traditionally understood concept of architecture by inviting other creative thinkers alongside architects to define places they find especially personal, whether physical or intangible, remembered or imagined.
These places have the potential to materialise as drawings of polite public washrooms; scale models of The Sims 2 houses for one's many alter egos; or essays, photographs and jewellery that depict past Sundays with one's beloved Dalmatian.
Hotel Intimacy echoes the London Festival of Architecture 2023 theme of 'In Common' by showcasing private spaces in a shared space. What we may have in common in public can be observed, but Hotel Intimacy provides visitors a chance to look for alikeness behind locked facades, beyond the front doors and foreheads.
